Accommodations

6 bedrooms, each with en-suite bathroom, king or queen sized comfortable beds; well stocked professional kitchen; beautiful views from the pool, conveniently located to trains, highways, shopping, and the ancient town of Cortona; this is Villa Sant'Andrea.

Villa Sant'Andrea is a well restored ex-presbytery villa in Tuscany Italy, originally built beginning in the 11th Century. The property consists of seven very private acres of olive groves and fruit trees nestled in the ruins of the church of Sant'Andrea and the ruins of the 12th Century leper's hospital for women. The villa near Cortona was formerly the living quarters for the priests and the stables of the animals- oxen and horses. The priests attended to the church, no longer existing, and to the female patients who lived in what is now our walled orchard.

Master Bedroom, upper level: King-bed with antique fireplace, tall beamed ceilings, TV, telephone, alarm clock with radio, and private bath (shower, sink, toilet, bidet, magnified mirror). View is to the walled garden.

Details include and antique reproduction solid oak bed, cathedral ceiling with hand-hewn beams (throughout the villa as well), oriental carpet, large antique armadio (not shown in the photo), en-suite bathroom. This room was a former kitchen, the tall ceiling was used for hanging meats and smoking them from the fires.

En-suite bathroom with shower.

View from the bedroom.

King Bedroom, lower level, with en-suite bathroom.

Details: Custom made library and bed by local artisans "Lorenzini" with leather headboard, fine silk from London custom made bedspread, library, and designer lighting by "Lucellino" Ingo Mauer. The flat screen TV can be used to connect to your computer for a larger screen. The bathroom has been very recently updated, finished in April, 2010, with large shower, and hand chosen "pietra serena" pieces for the counter and back splash. The stone is from a local quarry, and as Tuscany was once the bottom of the sea, these pieces were extracted from fossilized sea beds.

The closed door you see in the photo below leads to the formal dining room, the open door to the bathroom.

Queen Bedroom, upper level, with a view of the Vineyards, en-suite bathroom. Spacious in size with a beautiful view to the vineyards and the garden near the pool, oriental carpets, antique iron Tuscan bed. This room was an old hay loft above the once animal stalls (now our TV living room). En-suite bathroom with designer bathtub by Devon & Devon, hand made forged iron shower curtain rod, made by local artisans in Pienza, Biagiotti.

The staircase and entrance are just outside of the room with the queen size antique iron bed and bathroom.

The lower portion of the loft bedroom has it's entrance on the upper level of the villa, with a double bed, and entrance to the bathroom. In total this room can sleep four persons. An intimate and fun space with a newly restored bathroom, enormous shower with custom made glass doors and hand chosen "pietra serena" pieces for the counter and back splash. The stone is from a local quarry, and as Tuscany was once the bottom of the sea, these pieces were extracted from fossilized sea beds.
